A Time of Prayer
Advent is about waiting and expecting – two things that are found in prayer. Every First Saturday (beginning December 2nd) at 8am will be Holy Hour with Deacon Peter Andre.
Want to Light the Advent Wreath at the start of Mass?
We are starting to plan our Advent services and are looking for families and individuals that would like to be part of a long tradition here at Sacred Heart. You’ll process into the church with altar servers and priest, and then light the candle(s) on the Advent Wreath before returning to your seat. We’ll be happy to explain the details (there are not many) before the Mass. Call the office or email Lisa at sacredfaithformation@gmail.com. Tell her the weekend (Dec. 3rd, Dec. 10th, Dec. 17th or morning of Dec. 24th* (*Masses this morning will be at 8am and 10am).
Special Advent Bible Study
The Tuesday morning bible study (9:00am to 10:15am in the Parish Center) is studying “Preparing the Way”. Materials are provided. It is not too late to join.
Stations of the Nativity
Saturdays, 9:00am. You have prayed the Stations of the Cross. Have you prayed the Stations of the Nativity? We are so pleased to announce that we will once again have 14 beautiful scenes from the Nativity story displayed along “Festival Lane” (the road just in front of the Parish Center). As we pray, we will meditate on each scene and seek to draw closer to the babe in the manger – our savior!
God waits for you
Advent is a time for us to wait for the coming of Jesus. It is also a time when God is waiting for us to draw near to him in the sacrament of reconciliation (confession). In addition to our special Advent Penance service (see the next page) you can receive the sacrament on Wednesday evenings 6:30 to 8:00pm or Saturday afternoon 2:45 to 3:45. We know that some have bad memories of a confession experience and Fr. Brad and Fr. Amaro offer their apologies for that. Confession is supposed to be a safe place to encounter and reconcile with God. We’ll do all we can to help you experience the joy of being forgiven.
