Father Kevin Yarnell served our parish from July 1, 2018, until June of 2023. During those five years, the parish successfully navigated the COVID pandemic, remaining financially sound while continuing to improve the physical campus. A renewed emphasis on scripture and faith formation led to, among others, a parish lending library, Bible studies, and online content including twice-weekly daily devotions.
Thank you, Fr. Kevin, for all you have done. Our prayers are with you on your new assignment.
Here are some of our favorite highlights of the last five years.
The Parish Staff
Outreach: You gave – We helped!
• We added a third trailer for His Heart for their free clothing ministry.
• Collected food, Christmas toys, and gifts for assisted living residents, and items for Pinellas Hope
We grew in our faith
• We added a library in the church narthex
• Completed 5 books of the Bible in our weekly bible study
• Built a new meeting room in the parish center for our teens and the Jr. Legion of Mary.
We offered the sacraments.
We prayed together
Creating an outdoor plant rosary, outdoor Stations of the Cross, and the Life Ministry Prayer Garden provided permanent places for us to remember others in prayer. The Stations of the Nativity and last year’s living Stations of the Cross by our youth provided seasonal devotions.
Stewardship of our buildings
Because of your faithful stewardship we improved our buildings for better ministry.
• Replaced all the a/c units in parish center and the church office
• Replaced the windows in church office, rectory & retreat house
• Replaced some of the parish hall kitchen equipment
• Relocated the sacristy allowing for the addition of the parish library
• And a new a/c unit for the main church will arrive soon
We supported Sacred Heart and Morning Star schools
We practiced environmental stewardship
We built an outdoor garden between the rectory and retreat house and later added a plant nursery. Our priests, His Heart Society, and the 5th grade class at the school all benefited from the work of the volunteers who work the garden.t
